This was not cool

...because we got into some hot water
At the famous Glenwood Springs hot springs spa and pool!
Off season is the best time to go. The air temperature was about 60 degrees and the large pool was around 94. The smaller pool was around 104 degrees. As you can see from the above picture, there were few tourists today.

Near the back parking lot is the spring water source.

3.5 million gallons a day!

Here is the "drinking pool"
In the 1890's this was the place for "spring cocktails" that were guaranteed to cure any ailment. That's why this place was so popular back then.

Horsetooth Reservoir revisited via canoe

Summer is almost over and we didn't go to the reservoir!

Until now!
So let's get the canoe in the water before Labor Day weekend and avoid all the big power boats! Hooray! We did it!

Coors !

In Denver for the day!
Jeanne didn't wear any blue!
Is she a Cubs fan or a Rockies fan? It's hard to say.

We had good seats to see this game!

Some things reminded us of Illinois

We could have been at Wrigley
We didn't have time to check out Fur Con or the UFO convention in town. Oh well, maybe next time! BTW, the Rockies won 11 to 4!

DUNCAN MADOG PIX

Here are some pictures of Duncan (From his Facebook):
He is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, mostly red-brown color on top.

White underneath with white and brown spotted socks!

Intelligent in appearance with nice white sharp teeth.

Can sit on a chair

Or on the lawn.

Loves the snow!

video
Runs fast!

Duncan Madog is enrolled in doggie school scheduled to start on April 28th.  He could place AP calculus, but we believe he would be better off learning the basics his first time around.

Weird Costume Archive Volume 1

While attempting to convert some old 35mm slides to digital, I came across this:
It's an AWACS costume!

You know; it's the E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System aircraft!

I took this picture on Halloween eve 1981 of Jeanne trying her best to look flighty. She's got a foam pillow on her head and the coat is one of those shiny fire protective suits that one might wear in a foundry. Compare the foam pillow to the radar dome in the picture below:

An AWACS in the air.

It was a big deal back in October of '81 when the Reagan Administration announced its plans to sell five of the U.S.-made AWACS to Saudi Arabia. Most people never heard of the AWACS before then, but I remember seeing these strange planes near Seattle years before.

What a spectacular day!

A heatwave!
Jeanne VW Drivin' in the Foot Hills!

This server had some security issues just the other day! I think I reset all the passwords I need to update this blog in the future, but you never know! If I don't update tomorrow, then there were problems I haven't figured out yet. For now, I'm gonna ride my bike and not worry about it!

Jeanne in the Tree with Dumpsters

Took the tree in for recycling...
It lasted a long time. Someone said that the local trees dried out too fast, but this one did not loose any needles!

Weather report:
Finally some snow fell, but only about an inch. With the high temperatures, it should be gone by tomorrow afternoon. But it does get windy around here. A few days ago there was a 24 hour period of high winds like nothing we experienced in Illinois. In the town, there were reported gusts near 60 mph and over 100 mph in the foothills!

The Tree Farm

There are two things in Greeley that are worth the drive:
1) They have great Mexican restaurants
2) They have a nice Christmas tree farm
We are looking for a fresh tree to put up in our new home. Now that we have 14+ foot ceilings, we can put up a larger tree for the first time ever! Lets do it!

On the way back, we stopped in at Windsor to see how the rebuilding was going. You could still see workmen fixing roofs and cleaning up after the damage. Some of the larger trees were removed from the area since the last time I visited, but none of the businesses have been restored.

Judge Jeanne

Jeanne is an election judge in Colorado!
Unlike Illinois, they have early voting in Colorado, so Jeanne will be busy until November 5th!
